Standard of Care Review
AMD Engineering provides traffic engineering expertise to attorneys, insurers and public agencies in disputes involving roadway design, work zone traffic control and crashes. Our principals have spent their careers designing and reviewing signal, signing, lighting and maintenance of traffic plans for VDOT, DDOT and Northern Virginia localities, and they apply that experience to determine whether a roadway or work zone met the applicable standards at the time of an incident.
Case Experience
Work Zone Pedestrian Incident, Washington, DC
AMD Engineering was retained in a civil matter involving a pedestrian incident adjacent to a construction work zone in Washington, DC. Mr. Newberger reviewed the approved temporary traffic control plans and public space permits against the DDOT Temporary Traffic Control Manual and the MUTCD, and used police reports, video, site photographs, street-level imagery and deposition testimony to evaluate the sidewalk closure and pedestrian controls in place at the time.
His expert report and rebuttal reports responded point by point to the opposing experts' opinions and concluded that the traffic control measures were consistent with the governing standards.
